FUBU is a black-owned, NYC-based sportswear apparel and hip-hop lifestyle brand founded by Daymond John, Carlton Brown, J. Alexander Martin, and Keith Perrin in 1992. The group envisioned a brand the same caliber as Nike, not just marketed towards black culture, but born from it. Hence, the acronym FUBU: For Us, By Us. The brand was the epitome of Y2K fashion, worn by the likes of LL Cool J and Nate Dogg, until falling off in the early 2000s. Since 2010, FUBU has made a resurgence collaborating with Puma and designer Pyer Moss.
